The Windy City

Please excuse me while I rant. Blogging takes a lot out of a person. I go some place and I’m like, “Wow, this is so amazing!” And I think, “I can’t wait to share it with everyone.” But then I sit down at the computer and I’m like, “How am I supposed to share this?” I wish you could’ve been there to see the amazing things I just saw and feel the things I felt. Because writing is harder than some of you think. Sharing emotions that don’t really have words is hard. Like when I was in New York – you could feel the energy… and everything… but how do you write about it? You’ve got to experience it to get the whole emotion. And in Chicago where there were people everywhere, all there to see the same thing. And hordes and hordes of people crossing the street. You have to be careful or you might get run over… by the thousand other people crossing the street. So when I sit down at a computer and try to share this with you and feel like bleh, it makes it even harder to share an emotion, a feeling, a place, with you.

But I’ll try.

Let’s Celebrate

“Owwwwww, I just ripped a tendon in my shoulder!!!” I finally ran into a fellow klutz! Literally…?

This past week we stayed at the Shutt’s near Mansfield, Ohio. Their oldest daughter, Emma, is my age and we share a lot of the same tendencies. Like walking into door frames, injuring ourselves all the time… Stuff like that. Thankfully we never injure ourselves too badly – but that’s not going to stop us from being dramatic…?

You can remove us from Canada but you can’t remove the Canada from us. We spent Canada Day in the USA, but thankfully we were with fellow Canadians (Cara is originally from Saskatchewan!!!) so it wasn’t too bad…? We stuck on tattoos, wore red shirts, sang O’Canada, and told everyone Happy Canada Day! Lots of Learning

Utterly and completely mind blown. That’s how I felt after a day at the Ark Encounter. Things I’ve always wondered about? They now make sense. Like, how on earth did Noah fit billions of animals on his boat? He didn’t – but I’ll get back to that in a minute!

This week we did a lot of driving – Sunday afternoon we drove several hours to a campground in West Virginia, but the gunshots and spotty wifi had us moving onto Ohio Monday morning. That night while Dad was counselling we went back-to-school shopping! Then on Tuesday morning we drove to the Ark Encounter (in Kentucky), spent the rest of the day there, and then camped at a campground nearby.  That was the end of all the major driving!!! On Wednesday we went to the Creation Museum – which we managed to finish in one day even though our tickets included two days there. We must be professional tourists or something because everyone says you need at least two days there…? On Thursday we had a relaxed morning and then went to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Centre. That is a museum where you need at least two days – there is so much to read that it’s almost too much! But it was still cool, and really eye opening! Continue reading

Harrisburg

Eat, swim, sleep, swim, shop, swim!!!

This week Dad was taking a course in Harrisburg, PA and he thoughtfully booked us a campsite with a heated pool!!! Best decision ever, seeing as we spent at least half of our time, in Harrisburg, in the pool! This post isn’t much to read but it was really nice for us to swim, relax, watch movies, and go shopping. Ontario

Wow!? It has been almost two weeks since my last post… Sorry to everyone!? But it turns out that I now have a few days at a campsite with a pool and nothing on my agenda, I’ve got time to write up a post! …And seeing as I have been procrastinating for a few days, my conscience has now kicked in and I’ve begun this newest post – that was a lot of fun to experience, and hopefully it’ll be fun to read!!!

Now that I am done rambling – our past two weeks have been a lot of fun! They were filled with a lot of people, piles of fun, and little bits of sightseeing mixed in with it all!!! Our first stop was at Brian and Jeanette Kember’s in Cornwall, ON! We were at their house for five nights. Continue reading

Touring

Thank goodness the words were flowing because in the four hours it took to get from Donnie and Carrie’s to Halifax I wrote my Newfoundland post. I guess that’s what happens when you use 50 pictures…? Anyway we attended a Bible Reading Conference over the weekend – which was fascinating and I got to meet up with my friends from PEI, plus make some new ones!!! I hope to see you guys again soon!!! Newfoundland

There is some major freak out happening in our truck – icebergs!!!?? One of my life long dreams has been to see an iceberg! And so when we drove past a bay full of bergy bits (little bitty icebergs) we were SO excited!!! It actually was pretty funny because every time we saw icebergs we would stop and take pictures – so half of our photos from Newfoundland are pictures of icebergs!? Continue reading

Prince Edward Island

“Yaaayyy!!! We’re going on a ferry!” *Pause* “What kind of ferry is that?!??!?” I have never been on a ferry where the front of the boat opens upward. So I definitely had my doubts about how well the ferry would float! But we made it to the other side and I am still here to tell y’all about it so it obviously sealed pretty well!?

PEI was a beautiful place! A lot like how I thought it would be, with the red dirt and green fields. It was sunny the whole time we were there but it did rain once – right after we washed the truck!? Continue reading

Oh, Canada

Woot woot!!! *Happy dance* We are back in Canada!!!!! Even though we are further from home than we’ve been in a long time it still feels like we are SO much closer to home! …Probably because there is a Tim Hortons on every corner.??? Anywaaayyyy… We left Maine on a beautiful day and entered Canada on an even beautifuller day.?  But before we had made it too far things got a little slimy! Continue reading
