Ahhhhhh!! I had SO much fun! Well…except for a few scary dogs, and sore ankles.? First I’ll give you a rundown on what our day looked like, then I’ll give you the extras!
Every morning breakfast was from 6am to 7:30am at the hotel. We would all roll out and into the vans at 7:45. We would all travel together to the event center, which looked funny because there were five big white vans all in a row as well as two trucks! They had radios in each vehicle, and would call out directions as we went. By the last day we had it down pat!?
Once we arrived at the Salon de Eventos, around 8:30, it was devotions. We would sing for about a half hour, then two guys would give us a short message from the Bible.
After devotions were over, it was in the vans and out to distribute the John 3:16 texts, and invites to the meetings that the missionaries in Monterrey are having. You may notice the dog up on the roof, this was not uncommon! They couldn’t do anything to you, but it sure felt like they were about to jump off the roof onto your head!!! More common though were the dogs on the ground. You would be two houses down and they’d already be barking their heads off, lunging at the gate, trying to get out. The scariest are the dogs you don’t see, and walk past to the house, then turn and run, because there’s a chain jangling behind you. The Lord preserves the simple… Psalms 116:6
After distributing the texts all morning it was lunch!!! The meals were DELICIOUS!! Some meals were Mexican- some were more American- but they all tasted great! Once finished eating, you would package texts until it was time to head out again for the afternoon. Then it was supper, packaging more texts, and Gospel Meeting.
After Gospel Meeting we would head back to the hotel for Devotions, where we would sing then have a short message. Two nights we had a special speaker!!! (It was my dad?)
Now for the “un routine” stuff…
On Wednesday night as this truck was pulling out a bus came flying along and took the bumper and headlight right off. But God was right there the whole time! They weren’t allowed to drive the truck without the head light, so they picked it up and stuck it back in- AND IT WORKED!!! Also, insurance covered everything, even the bus, and no one was injured!
The last afternoon we went on a boat ride, and walked around a beautiful park down town.
At the end of the boat ride there was a market, and so everyone got the chance to go shopping. Cassia and Lanaya got these handmade bracelets with their names on them. They got to watch them being made because there weren’t ones with their names already on them… for some reason.?
And because we’re in Mexico… these lucky guys were allowed in the back of the truck on the way back to the Eventos! Except I wasn’t too jealous of them because of all the potholes everywhere!?
A flame thrower!!! The only one I saw, but it was enough! He was really good, he had three going at once, and stole my breath! I don’t think I’d ever be able to juggle flaming sticks!!!?
Leaving Monterrey on Saturday morning.? Everyone else left at 6:30, but we got to leave at 9am!!!?
One of the things I’ll remember most about Seed Sowers is the wind rushing past my ankle as the dogs teeth closed an inch from my ankle. I span around and said, “NO” in my firmest voice as I wagged the text at him. He scuttled away after that, but I must confess, it took a good five minutes for my heart to start beating normally again!
And I told you I would tell you about the things we consider a necessity: toilet seats would be one, and toilet paper, but I didn’t get a photo of that…? Stopping at stop signs also isn’t necessary, because they’re apparently only ‘optional’.
Seed Sowers was great, and taught me a lot, such as, not everyone gets to sit on a toilet seat!? Seriously though, it was such a blessing to reconnect with some old friends and meet some new!!! Another thing that was a blessing from Seed Sowers was the Bible devotions in the morning! One message of not living in fear really touched me because that’s what I felt every time I walked up to a house. You see, I was super scared of the dogs because of my close call the day before, so that message helped me to remember not to fear because God was there.
One last thing I appreciated about Seed Sowers was the atmosphere! I was younger than almost everybody but they were still all friendly! I noticed that everyone was getting along, and were all friendly with each other, and that made an impression on me as not everyone normally gets along with everyone in a big group of 150 people!
I hope that one day I can be one of those older kids including and encouraging the younger ones. What a great example for me to live up to. Thanks everyone!
A very interesting & informative post . I always wondered how ‘Seed Sowers’ was organised for the daily routine . So thanks for the excellent overview!
We pray that many souls will get saved through seed sowed in the scriptures given out & the gospel mtgs.
