Eight Months, Today!?

These past two and a half weeks we took a whole lot of photos on our camera-but we haven’t been staying in the camper!!! Which just means that there haven’t been any posts for over two weeks. But I didn’t mind seeing as I was sleeping in a nice comfy bed that had a ginormous bathroom connected to it! Bob and Becky invited us to stay with them, having never met before, but knowing a few of the same people, so we parked our camper in their driveway for two weeks! Now we are back on the road, with mixed emotions-we met some great people but we also have more stuff to see!??

I know it was a long long time ago but anybody remember that crazy speed limit sign? The one one that said “2mph”? Well we went searching for something to do at that campsite  and found a cute little creek! So we built a bridge and daringly stretched over the waterfall, and no one fell in!

Then on Saturday it was on to Bob and Becky’s for an indefinite stay! And they had the cutest puppy- Leo! We got to stay in real beds!!!!! And Lanaya, Cassia, and I had our own bathroom!!! I’m pretty sure the size of our room and bathroom combined probably equaled the size of our camper!?

That week we finished our math!!! Which makes a whole lot of sense when the prize is whitewater rafting and whatever else the National Whitewater Center has to do!!! (I’ll tell you more later on…)

On Tuesday we drove up to Virginia with Becky to have a bible study with some Christians!

Bob was in the middle of setting up his new concrete plant-so he and Becky took us to see the giant crane lifting the pieces off of the trucks. And I learned something!!! Cement is the stuff that you put into the concrete and concrete is the stuff you pour. I also learned that the truck that pour concrete are called ‘concrete trucks’ NOT cement trucks.

On Friday we went to another air museum- but this one had a story all of its own! Have y’all ever heard of the plane that crash landed on the Hudson river in NY and everybody survived? (It’s a cool story-you should definitely look the it up!) A plane was taking off in New York City when at about 3000ft a few Canadian geese flew into both engines and both of the engines died! The pilot knew he wasn’t going to make it to any airports so he chose to land on the Hudson River and everyone survived, which is AMAZING!!!!!

Next up was the Billy Graham Library-the free tour was SO cool. It took you room to room and each room was about different parts of Billy’s life or about his colleagues. The tour was super cool-and I would recommend it if you’re ever in the area as something to do for a couple of hours. For supper we went to Josh and Beth’s and ate a delicious supper and had a great time!

Then on Saturday Bob flew us down to Charleston for the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????? It was SO cool!

d7k_8947

It was my first time ever riding in a small private plane and you definitely felt the turbulence more! In a big plane when there is really bad turbulence people get scared-but in a little plane the turbulence is WAAAAAAAYYYYYY worse! It sorta felt like we were bouncing all over the sky!? Thankfully I kind of enjoy the turbulence but it still makes your stomach swoop and fly all over the place! My fam was really rockin’ the head sets!!!

d7k_8943

Bob knew what he was doing and it was super cool to hear everything that was going on in the headsets! Even though they sometimes used ‘pilot’ language…? But thankfully Becky explained it all to us!

Charleston had these super cool gas lanterns lining the side of the houses.

We took a horse drawn carriage tour through Charleston and saw the effects of a earthquake a long time ago. Look at the window it’s crooked, or else the building is, I’m not really sure!?

d7k_8976

See the black bolts stuck all over this building? They are holding the building upright. After the earthquake the buildings were all crooked so they stuck steel bars through the frames of the houses and slowly tightened the bolts. This pulled them upright, so now you’d barely know there was ever an earthquake.

There are a lot of majestic houses all throughout Charleston. Some of the houses are for sale, the smaller and more plainer ones begin at $1 000 000!!!

We don’t have any pictures during the ride, but at least we’ve got this one as proof that we actually did go whitewater rafting.?  We bought the day pass for the National Whitewater Center in Charlotte and then completed as many of the activities that we could before we headed over to the Pettersons for supper! First we rode the zipline, then we ran over to the aeriel courses and completed one of them in ten minutes instead of thirty because we booked spots at 2:30 for the whitewater rafting and wanted to be on time! Then after 90 minutes of rafting we split up into pairs(Becky came with us), and each went as fast as we could-Mom and I beat another record on another aeriel course-then changed, and jumped in the car. We drove home, had two second showers and showed up a little late for a delicious supper and great fellowship at the Petterson’s! Although I almost thought we weren’t going to make it to supper when the raft tipped onto its side, almost spilling us all out. The guide had to dive for mom cause she was heading straight for the water.?  But the raft righted itself and we made it for supper. (Just so you guys know; Becky, Cassia, Mom, and I were the only one who went rafting, and I’m not in this picture. Dad and Lanaya did a couple of Aerial courses!)

We drove up on Wednesday to visit Don and Caroline in the mountains, and left Friday evening. On Thursday our family went to the Titanic museum in Pigeon Forge, which was super cool! Except we weren’t allowed to take pictures…?  But I got to touch an ice berg and I stuck my hand in 28ºF(about -2ºC) water-It was FREEZING!!!  It cramped your hand up really bad if you left it in the water for just a few seconds. Imagine being the people on the Titanic who jumped in the water… On Friday we went on a hike with Don and Caroline, and then said our goodbyes, and headed back to Bob and Becky’s. It was great seeing you guys again, Don and Caroline!!! Thank you!!!

Bob and Becky’s house with our camper parked in front of it. Lucky us, we got to stay in the house!!!!!!!!!!!! Which was so awesome-do y’all know how amazing it is to sleep in a real bed?!?! The camper beds aren’t that horrid-but it definitely makes you thankful for a soft bed!?  We said our good byes and drove up to Virginia on Saturday.

For Breaking of Bread on Sunday morning Bob and Becky flew up to Virginia, so we got to see them again! We also got to see our friends from the bible study a couple of weeks ago!!!

D7K_9043

We took three photos and in all of them someone different is making a face. This one is the least scary…?  After meeting we went out for supper one last time with Bob and Becky.

D7K_9051

And then waved goodbye as they flew off towards their home. Thank you SO much for your guys’s hospitality for the last two weeks! The break was wonderful-and your dog, Leo, is SOOOOOO cute!!!!! We’ll miss you guys!!!!!!!?

Hi from ? Jeff and hi from ? Jeff and Ronda in Las Vegas . Just laying in bed reading the story of all your adventures sounds like you’re having a pretty good time. And yes I’m laying on a soft bed with a pillow, sounds like that’s your favorite place to. Keep the stories coming. Say hello to the whole family

We miss you guys! Even Leo has seemed depressed. ? I’m not kidding- he mopes around! (or he’s just lazy) ? Something about the repeated use of the word “bed” in this post makes me think you’ll be most glad for your real bed back home. ?
